My Copycat Pizza Hut Alfredo Recipe

I have to tell you first.  I am no chef, but I play one in my home.  We have to eat, so I do what I can. And excuse the harsh overhead lighting.  It was late, and I snapped this really quickly as it was about to be devoured.  The hand you see serving this was not there for the purpose of taking the picture. I had to work fast. If there is one thing I have learned being a mom of two sons, food is a very serious thing.  They require a lot of it.  And are always famished 30 minutes before whatever I am cooking is finished. OK, they’re usually famished before I ever get around to getting dinner started.  But, hey, in my defense, they are grown.  They know where the food is if they get THAT hungry. I just don’t want anyone to think I am starving small children.

We experimented with this a lot and will probably still tweak it a little here and there, but my guys say it’s pretty close to the taste of the sauce at Pizza Hut.

Alfredo Sauce Ingredients:

  • heavy cream (small carton)
  • 3-4 tbs. butter
  • 1 tbs. flour
  • 1 cream cheese package
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. roasted garlic seasoning
  • 1 box of cooked noodles

Instructions:

  1. preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. melt butter in sauce pan
  3. stir in flour to make a roux
  4. gradually add the cream cheese and heavy cream
  5. add 1 cup water
  6. add spices
  7. add a handful of cheese into the sauce and stir, set the rest of the package aside
  8. Pour the noodles and the sauce together in a baking pan and top with the remaining cheese. Bake for 30 minutes.  You can broil the top if you like it a little crusty.  I do.  I love crispy Parmesan cheese. It just seems right to eat it like that.

Helpful tips:

  • Stir.  A lot.  And then when you think you are done, stir some more.
  • If you like salt, you might want to add more. We try to cut back on it where we can.
  • It is even better heated up. Just add a little water to it and heat well.
  • Add chicken, seafood or whatever you like to it or on the side.

About Extraordinary in the Ordinary

I am a professional photographer who lives and works from her heart. My goal is always and in everything to be better today than I was yesterday. I’m an ordinary person dealing with what I like to believe are ordinary issues, but in all the ordinary days, I want to live an extraordinary life. I am the mom to two grown sons, and there has been nothing I have loved more than being their mom and being home with them. And while you are always a mom, there is a certain part of that time in my life that is over now that they are grown. I miss hearing them play and having them with me all the time and having all their friends over, but it is time to move to the next stage of life or at least trying to figure out what that is. I am making a list of personal goals, connecting with friends, and still nesting even though the children are grown. I think I will always be a "nester". Home is where the heart is. I love home and love making it a healing place of peace and comfort.
