Hi Donna! How funny that we had been going through the same thing at the same time, and then came to the same conclusion all on our own. And you are so right about creativity being a path to joy for some. I know it has been for me. That was even one of the things on my list to blog about soon! I have realized how photography has been an incredible source of joy lately for me but anything where I am creating seems to calm my world and make it a better place, even surrounding myself with certain things (usually art, photography, books, quotes, etc.) reminds me of that same feeling.

You are so right. It will be OK, but it feels really good to hear someone else say it. lol

Hey Tammy,
I really loved your post on embracing joy... I sort of came to the same conclusion at the turn of this year as well. I had done a lot of soul searching and had been in a really dark place for about a year and a half. Then, when 2010 came, I just felt something lifting... not sure why, but I decided to follow the joy instead of the dark... that is, to follow my bliss (literally and figuratively!). You have a choice to focus on pain, or decide to be happy, I see that now. And I also see how creativity can be a path to joy for many of us.

So, let your beautiful photography help you deal with what is to come. It will be OK.

Oh, Lisa! So glad you stopped by! Color can make or break a room, and I LOVE orange! That's what we did in our kitchen! How wonderful that you have that reminder of a joyous time!

That is funny that you mentioned that additional step. Goldie Hawn said the same thing in her book, A Lotus Grows in the Mud.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Had to read your blog after you left your comment. Love your steps to Joy. Like Step Two, my Daughter and I painted our dining room bright juicy orange and added huge 2ft wide zinnias to the walls in celebration of our move to NC. I felt grateful and joyous and wanted to express it and I remember that feeling every time we gather there to eat. I would add just one more step which may seem odd. Acknowledge your losses- and grieve, grieve big! Let the sadness pour through you. You cannot block pain, you can only let it pass through. Then your joy will be bright, deep and real. You are in my prayers.
