Enough of the Stuff

no-more-stuff-01The life I create and the life I want don’t always seem to be the same. Certain tasks have never come that easy to me, but I believe hope with the end goal in sight and a plan to baby step my way to the goal that I can change a lifestyle of messiness and hoarding (just to clarify here…we are talking MILD hoarding…nothing like what you see on shows like Oprah or Dr. Phil) to a life style of SIMPLE ABUNDANCE. Think about it. How much time do I spend taking care of stuff or putting stuff away or even having to move stuff so that I can clean? Think how much easier cleaning would be with no stuff to have to put away or move out the way. So today I am going to write about the life that I want…the life I am going to create.

I want a home that is clutter free….not full of stuff…and what stuff we do have…a place to put it away. I don’t have to stop and think where can I put this. It will have its very own place if it is important enough to keep.

I want a home that is inviting. I want pictures, warm lighting, and plants. But wait…plants need a lot of care…maybe not plants.

I want candles everywhere…even in the bathroom for the long baths I love to take on Friday nights. I want to enjoy the simple pleasures of a good book…nothing on my list to do…candles….a bath….puzzles…and all the things that bring me peace.

I want a yard filled with greenery…a little on the wild side so there is no upkeep. I want tall trees to act as a privacy screen and shorter shrubs to cover the fence. I want to be able to open my windows and like what I see. This way I can just enjoy the outside plants without having to have them inside.

The less I have the less I have to do.

Inside:

  • I need to think carefully on every purchase that I make. If in the end, it will take from my life, don’t buy it.
  • Devise a plan to get rid of the stuff that I have now…do it daily.
  • Pick up after myself….daily.
  • Throw out…daily.
  • Pick one small area and set my timer to go through it….daily. Throw it away if I never use it. It will create a place for the things that I do use and want to keep.

Outside:

  • Remove shed.
  • Spray for spiders on plants in sandbox.
  • Move deck.
  • Find shrubs that I want to use. Plant shrubs…tall and medium…around the perimeter.
  • Move bushes from patio to other places.

About Extraordinary in the Ordinary

I am a professional photographer who lives and works from her heart. My goal is always and in everything to be better today than I was yesterday. I’m an ordinary person dealing with what I like to believe are ordinary issues, but in all the ordinary days, I want to live an extraordinary life. I am the mom to two grown sons, and there has been nothing I have loved more than being their mom and being home with them. And while you are always a mom, there is a certain part of that time in my life that is over now that they are grown. I miss hearing them play and having them with me all the time and having all their friends over, but it is time to move to the next stage of life or at least trying to figure out what that is. I am making a list of personal goals, connecting with friends, and still nesting even though the children are grown. I think I will always be a "nester". Home is where the heart is. I love home and love making it a healing place of peace and comfort.
